Patrick Cox Designer Information
Patrick Cox is a Canadian born designer, who has forged a very successful career for himself since he moved to London in the early eighties. Although most designers in the shoe sector went to Italy, Patrick, with his fascination for the British fashion industry chose London to learn his trade. He enrolled at Cordwainers College, but this was not as rewarding to him as meeting people and making contacts in the London club world. It was his involvement in the London music and fashion scene that brought him his first big break. He was given the chance to design for Vivian Westwood, in her first solo collection. His creations were noticed and soon commissions followed from other designers, such as John Galliano and Alistair Blair. He followed up these successes with his own collections and opened his own shop in 1991. This gave him the chance to finally display a broad range of his designs, with his most brash designs alongside some of his more sophisticated. Aside from selling shoes, Patrick also sold antiques in his shop. This appealed to the press and so boosted his profile. Many of his ladies shoe designs were often brash, with collections named Chain Reaction, Rasta and Crucifix Court. In contrast his shoes for men were developed along different lines, with his designs being evolved from classic British ideas. His Resume is very impressive and he has won several fashion awards, including winning the accessory designer of the year, in the British Fashion awards two years running. |
